Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, blue glass spiral-threaded eyes with darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, nice antique costume and bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, original body with early retouch. Marks: 12. Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1880, the doll resembles early French bebes whose market it sought to capture. Value Points: lovely expression with pleasing pale complexion and blushed cheeks, beautiful eyes.
