Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into the head, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid body with gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wood upper arms and knees, with dowel jointing at knees and elbows, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent, three finger tips restored, tiny flake at back upper shoulderplate. Marks: 4. Comments: Barrois genre, circa 1860. Value Points: lovely early poupee with brilliant eyes, rare body style, and wearing fine early costume featuring brown linen skirt, patterned linen jacket with pagoda sleeves, undergarments, brown leather boots, brown silk faille bonnet, wicker basket.
