Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with well-defined angular features and strong cheek bones, intaglio dark blue eyes in defined eye sockets, black upper eyeliner, one-stroke tapered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, four modeled teeth, blonde mohair wig, composition body with slender adult shape, one-piece shapely legs, uniquely sculpted hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 185/26 F.B. 616 2. Comments: Fritz Bierschenk, circa 1910, the model 616 was registered by the Sonneberg doll maker in that year, and along with one baby model, was the only actual model registered by the firm. The firm, created in 1906, appears to have made bisque dolls for a few years only. Value Points: rare and exceptionally sculpted deposed-model doll enhanced by choicest bisque and painting, wearing antique nursing costume and woolen cape and cap with Red Cross emblem. Ex-Lucy Morgan Collection.
