Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with highly characterized facial sculpture, angular face with prominent nose, cheek bones and jaw, brown glass inset eyes, very thick sculpted grey brows, closed mouth, beaming smile, incised and highlighted age wrinkles, white mohair wig and beard. Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S 5. Comments: Cuno and Otto Dressel, circa 1895, from the German firm's series of American heroes. Value Points: especially fine modeling enhanced by artistic painting in rare larger size, the doll is all-original and wears factory original costume.
