Description
26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full chin and lower cheeks, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips and slightly upturned lip corners, dimpled chin, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Paris Bebe Tete Depose 11 (stamp on head) Paris Bebe Depose (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1890, the doll creation was the result of Jumeau's winning lawsuit against Danel & Cie, was made for only a short time, and is considered the first model of the celebrated 200 art character series by Jumeau. Value Points: especially fine sculpting on the rarely found distinctive landmark model, choice quality of bisque, original signed body.
