Very Rare American Wooden Milk Wagon by Schoenhut with Accessories and Calendar

23" (58 cm.) overall. wagon bed 12"l. x 13"h. A flannel-covered carved wooden horse on platform with leather harness and fittings and black button eyes is pulling a wooden milk wagon with driver's seat, hinged tailgate, wooden spoked wheels, and angled sun shade at the front roof line. The wagon has original dark midnight-green painted finish accented with gold stenciled borders, and both sides have a colorful medallion of cow's head circled by the H.P. Hood & Sons Dairy Products lettering. "Hood's Milk" is lettered at the tailgate, and a full length double-sided wooden sign "Hood's Grade A Milk" is proudly born on the roof. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Schoenhut, 1929-1933. Value Points: a rare treasure with especially fine decorations and state of preservation; included is the Driver in his original blue denim costume, and wooden crate of 12 wooden milk bottles, and a framed Hood's calendar for 1933 which depicts this wagon in a colorful lithograph.
