Description
17" (43 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head to waist with modeled bosom, oval-shaped face and elongated throat, sculpted black hair arranged in a triple-coiled braided chignon at her crown and having painted detail of curls around each side of face and looped over her lightly-sculpted ears, painted blue downcast eyes, single stroke brows, feathered brows, closed mouth with center accent line, one-piece kid lower torso and legs, wooden feet, wooden lower arms and hands. Condition: generally excellent, some repair to kid body. Comments: Germany, circa 1820. Value Points: rare doll with exquisitely-sculpted and detailed hair, modeled bosom, unusual body construction, and wearing very fine early gown of the 1830 era. The doll has a blue ribbon award from 1997 UFDC convention. Ex-Collection June Ellen Lane.
