20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted dark curly lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth, outlined shaded lips, dimpled chin and piltrum, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, composition and wooden fully-jointed body with musical box in torso which operates by key-wind and pull lever at back torso, antique costume. Condition: small chip with faint short hairline at left forehead rim, otherwise excellent, music operates well. Marks: Bru JneR 8 (head) Bebe Bru (torso). Comments: Maison Bru, circa 1892; a wooden-bodied Bebe Musique was originally made for two years in 1882, and then re-appeared in this version in 1892 as a variation of Bebe Respirant. Value Points: rare Bebe Bru with beautiful face and lovely music, antique costume including original shoes signed "Bru Jne, Paris".
