18" (46 cm.) Including 18" Mary Louise with tosca wig in elaborate period hairstyle featuring wide pouf curls at each side of head, walking style body. Wearing tagged caramel taffeta full-length gown with black silk braid trim, olive felt flannel jacket with looped faux-fur cuffs and collar edged with cream rick-rack, matching cap decorated with faux-fur that is constructed to accommodate the side curls, yellow kidskin gloves with painted stripes, taffeta petticoat and pantalets, stockings, black velvet shoes with gold ties. And 8" matching Mary Louise with auburn wig in original curls, straight leg walker body, wearing tagged costume complementing the larger doll with variations to the bonnet of green felt flannel with rick-rack trim. Excellent condition of both dolls, the smaller with rosy cheeks and vibrant costume colors. Alexander, models 2035D and 0035D from the "Me and My Shadow" series introduced in 1954 depicting period costumed fashion dolls. This particular pair present truly spectacular costuming of a Godey era afternoon gown with unique color combinations and rare details such as gloves on larger doll.
