Description
14" (36 cm.) Solid domed bisque shoulderhead with sculpted short brown hair with detailed comb marks and forehead curls, painted blue down-glancing eyes with thick upper eyeliner and painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, kid poupee body with slender shaping, stitched and separated fingers, wearing antique gentleman's costume (some moth holes) with wonderful embroidered silk vest. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3. Comments: attributed to Barrois, circa 1870, a nearly identical model is shown in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls by Theimer, page 50. Value Points: rare to find poupee with especially fine detail of hair sculpting.
