21" (53 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with deeply defined modeling of features, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, delicately-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with hint of smile, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with square-cut collarette, gusset-jointing at hips and knees, wooden arms with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows and wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: I (head and shoulders). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1867, his early period smiling Bru model with original Bru body from depose of 1867. Value Points: rare early period of the smiling Bru with especially fine quality of modeling, choice bisque, rare original body, and wearing exquisite original blue silk gown, undergarments, leather boots.
