Description
12" (30 cm.) l. 8" h. A bisque headed boy with brown glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with richly accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair, carton torso and legs posed in seated position, bisque forearms, is posed seated upon a paper mache log with wooden bark finish, decorated with branches and leaves. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: P 3 (and artist checkmarks). Comments: French, circa 1890, the boy wears original brown velvet hunting costume, boots, felt hat, and carries rifle with embossed brass handle. The log is hollow and is lined with a green silk candy sack whose drawstring top protrudes from the side of the log. Value Points: luxury and imaginative candy box produced for prestigious French candy store, in fine original condition, with closed mouth bisque head by Jumeau.
