Description
28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full lower cheeks, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and accented nostrils, separately-modeled pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, beautiful antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, from specially commissioned model for his firm from the celebrated French sculptor Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: an especially beautiful example of the beloved wistful-faced bebe has choicest bisque, complexion and painting, original body and body finish.
