Description
19" (48 cm.) Bisque head on kid-lined shoulderplate with unique jointing system allowing the head to only pivot realistically from side to side, small blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with primly-set accented lips, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, few patches on kid body. Marks: B 5 S. Comments: French, Claude Blampoix, circa 1857, who deposed the use of enamel eyes in dolls in 1855. Value Points: rarely found signature model with early enamel eyes, lovely expression and bisque, distinctive neck jointing system.
