16" (41 cm.) w. x 12" h. opened. The firm-bodied case with black paper cover to simulate leather has gilt lettering "La Petite Couturiere" on the lid and hinges open to a beautifully-arranged velvet-lined interior featuring shelving filled with folded fabrics, a center mirror, and various glass-fronted storage boxes and hat boxes containing various costume accessories, hats and undergarments. Four beautiful complete dresses for a petite 10" bebe are displayed, and there is a cast iron sewing machine with beautifully stenciled designs. The label of original store, A La Recompense, of Monsieur Nadaud, is on the front edge. Excellent condition. French, circa 1885, a beautifully-fitted luxury bebe accessory.
