Description
21" (53 cm.) overall l. 9"h. The wooden wagon with cut-outs at sides and back has original black painted finish which is richly decorated with Sheffield Farms lettering on both sides and the roof and with "certified milk" and "grade A milk" on the front and back, with slatted wooden interior floor, metal step down, and wooden wheels with painted spokes and is being pulled by a wooden flat-dimensional horse with hinged legs and painted harness, attached to wooden pulls. Along with wooden milk barrels, a metal carrier of six wooden milk bottles, cube of faux ice and ice tongs. The firm was located at 524 W. 57th Street and was one of largest milk suppliers in New York City. Structurally excellent, original painted finish is quite worn. Circa 1925.
