Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with rounded childlike facial modeling, brown glass inset eyes with darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with eight loose-ball-joints, flat-cut derriere and straight wrists of cupped hands, lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, body finish is rubbed, feet revarnished. Marks: Bte SGDG 1 (head) Sch (in shield, on derriere). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: especially beautiful early Schmitt bebe has choicest bisque, original signed body, beautiful painting around the eyes.
