Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate with additional tilting of head from side to side and forward, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading and darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, accented lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid-over-wooden body with shapely torso, loose baggy kid over hip jointing, dowel-jointing at elbows and knees, bisque lower arms with slightly-cupped hands. Condition: generally excellent, kid on upper arms recovered. Marks: (original paper label of Aux Enfants de France Alice Couturier on torso). Comments: French, circa 1862. Value Points: the beautiful doll with wonderful costume has original boutique label, and rare body style from original 1862 Cruchet body patent.
