The firmly-stuffed character with tan muslin torso and limbs, black velvet head and cream velvet face, has black oilcloth eyes, velvet nose, embroidered lashes and smiling mouth, black woolen ears, padded wire armature arms, legs and tail, green velvet glove-enclosed mitten hands, green velvet shoes, orange velvet shorts with cross-chest suspender. Condition: excellent, slight fading of gloves and boots. Comments: Miller Manufacturing for Aesop's Film Fables, late 1920s depicting character from Aesop's Fables Animated Films. Value Points: rare character with distinctive facial embroidery is well-preserved.
From 1921-1929, the cartoonist illustrator, Paul Terry, created a series of animated silent films "Aesop's Film Fables" for RKO Pathe. The short cartoons featured amusing spoofs of the original Aesop's Fables. A series of the characters in the films were created in doll form by Miller Manufacturing, late 1920s, and are notable for variations in actual head shape as well as facial details.
