Description
12" (30 cm.) Each has paper mache head with painted hair and facial features including moustache, wrapped armature body, cloth hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Fabrication Francaise Jouets Tissus E.L. (tag on sleeves of several) Par Albert Guillaume (paper label in shape of French flag on several). Comments: the set was designed by the noted French illustrator, Guillaume, for production by the firm of Emile Lang, circa 1918, and were offered in leading Paris department stores during and just after WWI; the set depicts Allied Forces of that war and were intended to stir patriotic fever. Value Points: rare dolls in perfectly preserved condition, each wearing its original well-detailed uniform including accessories, equipment and emblems.
