Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, large blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, incised eyeliner, slightly-modeled brows with comb-marked brush- strokes, rounded nose with accented nostrils, open mouth, outlined lips with impressed dimple on lower lip, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Germany. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1900, the model is indubitably 1279 although unmarked on doll, suggesting its special commission for particular store or firm. Value Points: rare doll whose distinctive modeling features include sculpted eyebrows, lower eye creases, dimpled lip and cheeks, and having, original body, body finish and antique costume.
