Description
18" (46 cm.) Presented in their original factory box is a bisque child doll and three additional interchangeable heads which are designed to fit interchangeably on the body. Three of the bisque heads have painted eyes, closed mouths, and distinctive facial expressions that are unique to each, and the fourth doll head has blue glass sleep eyes, open mouth, four porcelain teeth. Each doll has original plaster pate and original mohair wig. The composition and wooden ball-jointed body is wearing original chemise, socks and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 180 (upper glancing brown eyes), 186 (smiling brown eyes), 171 (glass eyes) 187 (blue eyes). Comments: Kestner, circa 1910, the models were offered by Kestner as individual art characters, or in this very rare multi-head version designed for the doll heads to be interchanged. The dolls are in their original box with English language label "Kestner Character Doll" and crown insignia, and the complete doll has the cardboard Kestner crown and streamer label. Value Points: rare and complete series in flawless unplayed with original condition, in original box, in rare larger size.
