20" (51 cm.) All black cotton muslin, the tall slender doll features a knob-shaped head with flat-dimensional face, embroidered facial features in the style of pumpkin carving, stitch-jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, shaped feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, the doll is known as "Pumpkin Man" in reference to stylized face, late 1800s. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved, of special note is the very fine gentleman's costume worn by the doll, features, formal-wear jacket and trousers, white pique vest with three pearl buttons, pleated shirt, cravat with gold stick pin, top hat.
