Description
10" (25 cm.) Posed interactively, each has polychromed terra cotta head, tousled curly brown sculpted hair, enamel eyes, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, tow-wrapped body, terra cotta lower arms and legs, bare feet, (detachable) carved wooden wings with detailed feathering and original paint. Condition: very good, some darkening and rubs of original painting and original costumes. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: rare to find as a pair, the angels wearing original costumes with hidden wire framing to achieve windblown effect, accented by metallic gilt braid and embroidery.
