Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of dark complexioned man with sculpted unruly and windblown curled hair, enamel eyes, incised character lines on face, open mouth with well-defined tongue and teeth, tinted beard stubble, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs with painted green stockings and leggings over wooden clogs, and wearing original silk ensemble with green pants, silk jacket and vest with rows of tiny buttons, sash. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1800s. Value Points: outstanding detail of expressive modeling is enhanced by finest artistry of painted features and complexion, original costume.
