Description
18" (46 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil painted complexion and features, swivel head, painted blue eyes with defined pupils and white eye dots, red upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, tiny nose, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, two chin seams, brunette mohair bobbed wig, oil-painted body with disc-swivel jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent, some darkening smudges on face. Marks: Kampes Atlantic City USA (ink script high at back of head). Comments: Louise Kampes, pre-patent model by the American doll maker, early 1920s. Value Points: rare model with distinctive body style, unusual face with fine original finish, original wig, and with original costume including early shoes, socks, cotton dress, undies, plum flannel coat and matching cap; the coat with original paper label on sleeve "The Kampes Dolls Just Kidding". Included is attached photo of the presumably original flapper lady owner holding the doll.
