Description
18" (46 cm.) h. 21"w. Arranged on an ebony black base with glass dome, is a paper mache mossy ground, a cottage with hand-painted details surmounted by a windmill and fronted by a waterwheel, along with a tinplate well and pump, and animals and shrubs populate the yard and a rare bisque man with sculpted bisque top hat stands alongside the well. When wound, music plays, the windmill and the waterwheel turn, and the glass spiral "water" twirls as though water is pouring from the pump. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function well. Comments: French, circa 1875, in the Phalibois manner. Value Points: beautifully arranged scene with intricate detailing, rare doll.
