Description
35" (89 cm.) Bisque socket head, large almond-brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eyeliner, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, defined space between shaded and outlined lips, separately modeled applied ears, auburn mohair bobbed wig with cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Paris Bebe Tete Depose 16 (incised). Comments: Danel & Cie, circa 1889, the rare model was made for one or two years only; the story of the Jumeau/Danel lawsuit is told in The Jumeau Book by Theimer/Theriault on pages 148-151. Value Points: rare model even more sought in this elusive grand size, wearing wonderful antique Marquis costume.
