Description
13" (33 cm.) head circumference. 17"l. Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, sculpted tight baby curls with light brown painted hair, tinted brows, brown glass sleep eyes, tiny painted lashes, broad nose with accent dots, open mouth with slightly-parted lips, two porcelain lower teeth, muslin stitch-jointed body, composition hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: copr. by Grace. S. Putnam Germany 1415/48. Comments: circa 1927, the smiling Bye-lo variation was designed by Putnam in an attempt to revive the flagging Bye-lo market, but the very scant number of models found today indicates that few were ever made. Value Points: very rare model with beautifully-detailed sculpting, finest quality of bisque and painting, original body, superb antique costume.
