Polychromed terra cotta head depicting elderly balding man with unruly curls at sides and nape, sideburns which extend to the edges of the drooping moustache, deeply-incised age wrinkles on forehead, defined wart, enamel eyes, gaunt cheeks, mouth modeled open, teeth, tow-wrapped armature posable body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, wearing rough shepherd costume of homespun materials, and carrying homespun shoulder bag with little lamb. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: fine expressive details of sculpting, excellent details of accessories such as baby lamb and costume.
