Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting woman with head turned strongly to the side, sculpted brown hair in braided chignon at back of head accented with painted scarf, enamel inset eyes, pierced ears, closed mouth with gentle smile, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and red-bow trimmed shoes, original silk folklore costume. Condition: generally excellent, some costume frailty. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: especially fine detail of facial expression, rare coiffure details, original costume.
