Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with amber tinted complexion, narrow brown glass sleep eyes, painted curly lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, slightly parted lips, two porcelain upper teeth, tongue, black human hair, amber tinted composition bent limb baby body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F made in Germany 10 243 JDK. Comments: Kestner, circa 1912, the sculpture was made specifically for this model only, aptly depicting a Chinese child. Value Points: in appealing size, the doll wears its original elaborately embroidered silk costume and headdress, possibly commissioned by Gump's of San Francisco for their luxury clientele of the early 20th century.
