Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump facial modeling, small blue glass sleep eyes, painted curly lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly-parted outlined lips with tentative smile, four porcelain upper teeth, blonde mohair wig, five-piece toddler body, beautifully-costumed original pink cotton ruffle-tiered dress, white flannel wool coat and matching tam, shoes and socks. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish, one finger tip chipped. Marks: Porzellanfabrik Burggrub Princess Elizabeth 3 1/2 Made in Germany DRGM. Comments: portrait doll of Princess Elizabeth at the age of three, from an original design by sculptor, Caesar Schneider, commissioned by Schoneau and Hoffmeister for the task, and authorized by the British royal family. The doll was sold for two years only, 1931-1933. Value Points: fine original state of preservation with original wig, body, body finish, and original costume.
