20" (51 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head depicting a strong-featured man with pronounced sculpting of cheek bones and nose, sculpted brown hair and beard, sculpted ears, enamel eyes, darkened complexion, carved age wrinkles, closed mouth modeled as though open with defined tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, sandaled feet. Condition: structurally excellent, original finish albeit rubbed and worn. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: wonderful sculpted hair and beard, expressive facial features, very frail silk costume.
