Description
10" (25 cm.) dolls. 15" including base. Each has bisque head with flanged neck, elongated oval face, blue or brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, blonde mohair wig, firmly-shaped one-piece torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque lower arms, and each is posed upon a velvet covered wooden platform which hides below the musical and mechanical movements. Condition: dolls are excellent, presentation is original and mechanisms appear intact albeit need some adjustment. Comments: French, circa 1870, the heads were commissioned from Pierre-Francois Jumeau by unknown Parisian luxury boutique for this remarkable presentation. Value Points: rare pair, with all original silk costumes of Marquis and Marquise, exquisite portrait face which are very rare to find especially in this tiny size.
