Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting woman with head turned strongly to the side, sculpted brown hair brushed from face and captured in loose bun at back crown, enamel inset eyes, fully sculpted pierced ears, closed mouth modeled as though open with modeled row of teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and red-bow trimmed black clogs, original silk folklore costume. Condition: generally excellent, some costume frailty. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: especially fine detail of facial expression, original painted finish and silk costume.
