19" (48 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with angular shaping, very pale complexion with blushed cheeks, enamel upper glancing eyes, heavy eyelids, one stroke brows, strong nose, closed mouth with gentle expression, simply arranged carving of hair around sides of face and smooth crown at the back designed to under head coiffe, tow-wrapped armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs with fine detail of sculpted fingers, wearing original costume and accessories. Condition: generally excellent, some scuffing of original painted finish on hands. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: outstanding sculpting of facial expression and hands, fine original finish.
