Description
6" (15 cm.) Carved eastern hard rock maple wood, jointed arms that move in tandem, jointed legs that move in tandem, carved and painted black hair, painted facial features, wearing a blue and white checked dress, coral beaded necklace, black painted boots. Along with a small white mattress, matching white chemise and half-slip with blue trim, paper detailing plot points from the 1929 book "Hitty, Her First Hundred Years" by Rachel Field, and a booklet "Mehitabel Hitty's New Adventures" by DeAnn Cote. Along with a small blue case (likely not original to the set). Condition: generally excellent. Marks: "Wooden Hitty No. 1, 1996" (back). Comments: DeAnn Cote, 1996, doll artist known for her work with carved miniatures. Value Points: doll has the artist's maker's mark on the back, includes booklet by the artist with pictures and detailed information about the original Hitty doll and her reproduction.
