17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with angular facial modeling, strong chin and throat, painted blue intaglio eyes in deeply-set sockets, black upper eyeliner, accented nostrils, one-stroke tapered brows, modeled-closed mouth with defined space between the expressive lips, sculpted upper teeth, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden fully-jointed Sonneberg body, antique costume of dapper young gentleman. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F.B. 616 2. Comments: Fritz Bierschenk, the Sonneberg dollmaker registered this singular and expressive head model, 616, in 1908; few examples appear to have been made as evidence by their rarity. Value Points: outstanding art sculpture of the face with very distinctive features, finest bisque and painting of the rarely found doll.
