3" (8 cm.) h. 5" x 4" flannels. Bisque shoulderhead portraying the American President Rutherford Hayes with brown sculpted hair, moustache and beard, has painted facial features, and sculpted and painted black jacket and bow tie. Incised at back 369-1. The head is mounted upon felt woolen flannels with red and white stripes suggesting American flag, designed for use as pen wiper, and likely created for the American market to commemorate the man at the time of his death in 1893. Excellent condition.
