Description
5" (13 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with slightly tinted complexion, oval shaped downward-inclined face, strong throat, black sculpted hair arranged with single ringlet curl tumbling in front of each ear and an elaborately arranged coiled and braided coronet intertwined with blue ribbon at the back of head, two ringlet curls tumbling onto shoulders, painted blue eyes with dark iris rims, red upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with very full lips, six sew holes. Condition: generally excellent, few paint rubs on hair at back. Marks: K 85 (very faint incised mark inside shoulderplate). Comments: Germany, circa 1850, attributed to Conta and Bohme. Value Points: very rare coiffure with unusual details, unusual facial expression. The doll has a blue ribbon award from 2009 UFDC competition.
