Description
19" (48 cm.) Pink tinted porcelain shoulderplate with cut pate, perfectly oval face, strong throat and nose, painted eyes with unusual brown pupils, grey irises with darker grey iris rims, black upper eyeliner with slight fringed edging, single stroke light brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, brunette hair wig in tightly braided chignon, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, wearing lovely antique costume, undergarments, shoes and woven bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1860, possibly French as indicated by body which appears original and unusual facial modeling and painting style, the doll is preserved in old box with milliner label (not original to doll). Value Points: very rare doll whose mystery aura is augmented by most unusual and splendid facial modeling and painting.
