Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate with alternate faces on either side of head, one face with blue glass enamel eyes, painted lashes and eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils and accented lips; the other face with sculpted closed eye lids, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with hint of smile; the poupee has double-sided ears with pierced ear holes at center base of lobes, blonde mohair wig that covers the top and sides of face, kid poupee body with square cut collarette, gusset-jointing at hips, knees and elbows, lovely antique silk gown, undergarments, stockings and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1868, this being the year that the "surprise double-faced poupee" was registered. Value Points: extremely rare model with superb quality of bisque and painting, original body in very fine original condition.
