Description
32" (81 cm.) Bisque socket head, very deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes with darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, dimpled chin and philtrum, blonde human hair over Steiner pate, French composition fully-jointed body with straight wrists, lovely antique costume of dotted Swiss. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Steiner Bte SGDG Sie C 7 (incised, and Bourgoin red stamp). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1882. Value Points: splendid eyes enhance the very dear gentle expression, fine quality of bisque. The doll is featured in the book The Rose Unfolds by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 135.
