Description
22" (56 cm.) Wax shoulderhead with rosy complexion, blue glass inset eyes with heavy eyelids, tinted brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, blonde mohair inserted wig, softly-stuffed cloth body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, poured wax lower arms and legs. Condition: very good with some craquelure on face, otherwise excellent. Comments: English, circa 1860s. Value Points: preserved in her original wooden padded case, the doll is wearing original black silk and velvet gown with matching cap and shoes, along with extensive wardrobe of additional gowns, undergarments, toiletries, accessories, leather cases, miniature books and games, handmade notes cards, miniature photo album containing photographs of Princess Helena, Prince Leoold, Princess Louise, the King and Queen of Prussia and others, and a hand water-color framed picture of the doll.
