7 1/2" (19 cm.) Each is all-wooden with one-piece egg-shaped head and shapely torso, elongated throat, painted black hair with defined curls at the center part and sides of face, painted facial features, tiny carved nose, outlined blue painted eyes, pert chin, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted red flat shoes with black soles. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Grodnertal, circa 1840. Value Points: all-original pair, wearing matching early costumes of stiffened muslin gowns, rose silk fringed shawls, undergarments, stiffened buckram bonnets with silk trim, and, jointly, carrying an early wire-handled basket with paper label "it is more blessed to give than to receive".
