Description
19" (48 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading and dark iris rims, dark eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, plump French kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms with sculpted fingers, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, few patches on body. Marks: Bru Jne 6 (head and body). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880, the rare transitional era doll has the earlier facial style and body style of the early Brevete bebe, but the markings of Bru Jne; examples are rarely found. Value Points: rare model with very beautiful face and eyes, perfect bisque hands. The doll is shown in the book The Rose Unfolds by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 126.
