Description
8" (20 cm.) h. 5" width. shoulderplate. Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with rich golden amber complexion, slightly angled brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, angled feathered brows with curled tips, pierced ears, shaded nostrils, two original holes above the lips designed for placement of moustache, closed mouth, black mohair wig. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E Depose 10 B (shoulderplate). Comments: French, Barrois, circa 1867, the head was likely created for exhibition at the 1867 Paris International Exhibition, designed to appeal to visitors from Eastern and Far Eastern countries. Value Points: important model that is extremely rare, enhanced further by unusual moustache detail and flawless complexion.
