Description
34" (86 cm.) All wooden figure with swivel neck carved wooden head, oval shaped face, aquiline nose, defined eye sockets, closed mouth, muscular upper torso, ball-swivel waist, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, separately carved fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, mid-19th century, the mannequin was the inspiration for Bru's deposed wooden poupee body. Value Points: fine large size with richly grained fine woods, excellent detail of body features. The figure is shown in the book The Heart of the Tree by Rosalie Whyel and Jill Gorman, page 79.
