Description
10" (25 cm.) Poured wax lady modeled to below well-formed breasts, her head inclined slightly downward gazing at wax baby she is holding; tinted features, defined hair, wax lower arms, wrapped formed body posed seated on wooden chair, wearing original low-bodice gown; the baby, modeled to waist only, has original (very frail) gown, wax hands, tinted features. Condition: fair, extensive hair loss, some finger loss, costumes frail. Comments: later 1700s, possibly French. Value Points: compelling vignette of mother and child, the realistic posing and facial gentleness have been retained despite the aging.
